Why Some People Die After 10 Years of Smoking, Others After 20, Others Live a Long Happy Life?
Question by : Why some people die after 10 years of smoking, others after 20, others live a long happy life?
NOBODY in my whole family ever had ANY serious diseases or cancers. Everyone had a long life (reached to 90-95), they were non-smokers though. I am a smoker, I don’t want to quit because I like smoking.
So, there are smokers who smoke 2 packs a day and live a long life, I just want to know if I am one of them, considerating my family.
Thank you.

Smoking increases your chances of getting various diseases. While your family history suggests that, if you live a healthy life with good food and exercise, you would ordinarily have fairly low chances of getting, say, cancer, there’s still a chance that you will get it; and smoking makes it more likely that you will get those diseases.
It’s like flipping a coin, only some people have slightly better odds than others. You might get something, you might not. Smoking makes it much, much more likely that you will get something, just like going out and standing on the roof every time it storms makes it more likely that you’ll get hit by lightening.
