Autopsy Indicates Whitney Houston was Chronic Cocaine User – Whitney Houston died from accidental drowning, according to the LA County Coroner’s Office. According to the coroner’s report, the 48-year-old singer also had cocaine in her system at the time of her death. The coroner’s report cites ‘effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use’ as contributing factors in her death. Coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey said drug tests indicated the singer was a chronic cocaine user.
