What Treatment Is Available for a Teen “rage” Addict?

Question by Mama Bear: What treatment is available for a teen “rage” addict?
My daughter recently “snapped” and beat me up. She injured me very badly, was arrested (is still in a juvenille facility) and is now being charged with felony battery. She is 17; a very booksmart but stressed out young lady. No history of drugs (verified through testing). We have NO idea what happened and how to help her. Most teen treatment centers focus on drug addiction. Any input/ideas are welcome. Thank You.

Well there are family therapist available that may be beneficial to you and your daughter. Or you could speak with your family doctor and see if he can refer her to a physiologist/psychiatrist to discuss what is happening in her life to make her go into these fits of rage. Sadly it is happening more and more that parents are at the receiving end of a lot of these outbursts. Best of luck to you both and I hope that she is able to overcome these episodes. My 25 year old son was having a lot of trouble with these type of outbursts and he was given a prescription for medicinal pot and it appears to have really helped him. Myself I would prefer he do this then drink any day as booze only makes these outbursts more violent.

well if my son or daughter hit me or my wife we would all be in jail after i beat the living h ll out of her or him. Then when I got free there bags would be beside the road. Children must Honor and obey there parents no matter what.If they can`t do that its the highway. If you let them get away with this by adjusting your thinking to there level then you need help .been there done that.
