Only similar in the way of the mind craving the excitement or thrill. Not similar in that the body when addicted to drugs heavily relies on the drug to function the way that it gets used to functioning when on drugs. The basic differences are that entertainment addiction is all in the mind, drug addiction is a combination of the mind and body being addicted.

I don’t even like calling it Addiction. Addiction puts emphasis on the object, like it’s the cocaine’s fault for you using it. I say Dependent, that someone is dependent on the drug. Any object that offers immediate gratification that can be harmful to your everyday life can be deemed Dependent. For example, I play video games but if I started playing them so much that they interfere with my job or family life then it’s negative behavior.
