Body Image, Eating “problems” but Nobody Understands How Serious It Actually Is?

Question by Kori. ?: Body image, eating “problems” but nobody understands how serious it actually is?
I struggle from mental health problems. Anxiety, mild depression and I’m being tested for BiPolar Disorder.
I’ve had a huge problem with my body for years now, but I’ve suddenly realised I can control it, and I do. I go through phases of making myself sick but sticking numerous objects down my throat such as my fingers, toothbrush, the list goes on.. Or starving myself. I go through days without eating, but when I look at myself, I seem to be getting fatter, not skinnier.
Things have gotten so bad with my body imagine that its getting hard for me to even leave the house. I have friends who are skinnier than me, and although I love them to bits i find it hard going out with them because I feel like a beast compared to them. I’ve often felt like killing myself because of my weight, thinking who would want to marry me when I’m older? Who would want to be seen with me in public?
I self harm, due to body image, the way I look. I feel like I deserve it. I’m not skinny though, thats the thing. People say that people who do this to themselves are usually skinny, they just don’t feel it. But I’m 16, size 12.
When I have to go out, it takes me forever to get ready in the morning and I always keep my hands at my sides to try and make it look like I don’t have hips, but the problem is, unlike most people, I don’t wan t help, but at the same time I do :-/ I don’t want to put weight on, I don’t want to eat, but I can’t live my life like this and I’m struggeling to come to conclusions on what to do 🙁
I go to CAMHS and they know about my eating problem, but they say that thats really at the bottom of the list, but since I told t my purging and starving wasn’t often, but now its increased dramatically. :-/

tell me about it! I completely understand where you’re coming from. I have a similar problem, not with my weight but with my height. Everybody notices me whether I want them to or not and I have such a struggle finding clothes that are long enough for me, particularly my legs because they’re so long. Your friends are ALWAYS going to be skinnier than you, trust me. It’s not that you’re fat, it’s that they are lucky because food does not affect their weight at all. I have been out with friends who can gorge on sweets and chocolates and other foods and not change at all- i do that and I put on like ten stone.

If it helps- according to fact, they may be skinny now but once they have their first child weight will be put on them whether they like it or not- they will be the size of a house and they will feel our pain.

Don’t be worried about your body- it really isn’t worth it, trust me.
