GLBT: IF You Are Willing to Share, Do You Have Any Mental Illnesses/addictions?

Question by Irish boys help you get lucky!: GLBT: IF you are willing to share, do you have any mental illnesses/addictions?
I read all the time about these studies and articles saying GLBT are at higher rates for depression, suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, yadda yadda. Just trying to get an estimation of how true it might be, so I figured I’d ask the source.

And if you do, do you think it’s tied into how you are treated because you happen to be GLBT or for other reasons?

I’ll share with you…

I have Gender Identity Disorder
I also have a diagnosis of “Major Depressive Disorder Recurrent”. Apparently I don’t even know what it IS to be happy.
I also have at one point been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. (I worry about EVERYTHING, and run on very little sleep)
I have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder)
I’ve also gone through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as anger management.

Oh, and not sure if you’d call it an “addiction” per se, because you can’t really get physically addicted to marijuana, only psychologically addicted, I was a major stoner for about 2 years.

So..please..share with the group.
What’s weird though is that everyone thinks I’m very level headed, down to earth, wise, mature, responsible, intelligent and all that..until I tell them these thigns about my past. Then I’m immediately judged and dismissed. It irks me.
Hak..the term you are looking for for “borderline autism” is Asperger’s Syndrome. I’ve had THAT mentioned to me too.
RadGal…I’m sure by now you know that *I* know Gender Identity Disorder is not a mental illness, but..it is still technically a diagnosis I have from a psychologist. Technically speaking, it’s still on paper. That’s all I meant by that.
