Was I Drunk- if So, How Drunk?

Question by : Was I drunk- if so, how drunk?
I’m 14 and I drank for the first time with my friends last night. I drank quite a lot- I wish I could write down exactly what here but I don’t remember everything because we did mix drinks, and I apparently drank things I don’t remember drinking now…anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was maybe 8 units or so, if not more.

At first time went REALLY slowly; it was amazing. Everything was pretty funny and we had a lot of fun. But as I drank more and more I must have lost control because I don’t remember half of it, if not more. I have a few memories, but my friends, who were not as out of control as I was, told me all sorts of things that happened which I couldn’t remember:

*I was sick. Several times, nearly all over the floor.

*I “stumbled” down the stairs and collapsed on the bottom one crying and murmuring to myself.

*I said a lot of strange things. I said that I was sorry, that I wanted to kill myself (which is alarming) and then that I just wanted to be alive, that I thought I was dead.

*I walked around the room talking nonsense and falling over.

I have some memories but all the things above, and quite a few more, I don’t remember at all. (I don’t even remember throwing up- but trust me, I did.)

However in the morning I had no hangover, but I felt sick and slightly spacey, and very tired.

Was I actually drunk? (I think I must have been, and my friends looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked that- they drank less, can remember much more)

I feel as if I didn’t quite get in the same space as what people talk about and that it didn’t last long enough as I eventally fell asleep after a few hours. I just want to go back mostly because I don’t remember so much, and I can’t stop thinking about doing it again because I want it to last longer.

Do you have any suggestions for next time to get more drunk/ perhaps not throw up?

Yup – you were hammered.

What you experienced (by not remembering things) is called a blackout. That happens when you drink too much.

You threw up – you drank to the point where your body needed to expel the excess.

Stumbling – yet another sign. Saying odd things like you did would make Bill Engval say, “here’s your sign”.

I’d suggest drinking less – you can’t get much more drunk than you were. . .
